Srebrenica
Potočari

Upon our arrival to Srebrenica our guide will walk you through the city and tell you how Srebrenica sadly entered history as the largest genocide in Europe since the Holocaust. In July 1995 Serbian paramilitary units overran and captured the city despite its designation as an area “free from any armed attack or any other hostile act”. In the days following Srebrenica’s fall, more than 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were systematically massacred and buried in unmarked mass graves. Thousands of women, children and elderly people were forcibly deported and a large number of them were abused and massacred. In memory of the victims you will visit the Srebrenica Potočari Memorial Complex which was founded in May 2001 and opened to the public by Bill Clinton. In Potočari you will visit the memorial center where you will find personal belongings, along with stories of victims found in mass graves displayed in twenty cabinets. Aside from the recovered remains, these objects are the final indications of victims’ identity. Also, you will have the opportunity to watch the detailed 30 minute video and visit the museum.
