Bjelašnica, Igman and Trebević or Jahorina

Sarajevo Olympic Mountains Tour is created to let you experience the spirit of Olympics and flashback to the 1980s. Sarajevo hosted XIV Winter Olympic Games 1984. The tour starts by visiting Olympic Stadium Koševo and Olympic Hall Zetra.

After panorama of Sarajevo and stories related to Olympics we will continue to the beautiful mountains. The first one on our way is mountain Bjelašnica. It is the highest part of the Dinaric Mountains. It is also best ski center in Bosnia and Herzegovina today. Alpine skiing disciplines of the Olympic Games were held on this mountain. We can enjoy hot tea in a beautiful mountain house. It is pronounced [bjělaːʃnit͡sa]) is a mountain in central. It is found directly to the southwest Sarajevo bordering Mt. Igman. Bjelašnica’s tallest peak, by which the whole mountain group got its name, rises to an elevation of 2067 meters (6782 feet).

Igman

Igman is part of the Dinaric Alps and formed largely of secondary and tertiary sedimentary rock. Igman’s highest point, Crni vrh, west of the Malo Polje road, at an altitude of 1,510 metres (4,954 feet).
Igman was the location of the competition in the alpine and Nordic sports disciplines. Igman hosted primarily the Nordic disciplines; the Igman Olympic Jumps in the Malo Polje area were the site of the ski jumping events and also the ski jumping part of the Nordic combined events. Meanwhile, the Veliko Polje hosted the biathlon, cross-country skiing, and the cross-country skiing part of the Nordic combined event. In preparation of the Games a road was constructed across the Igman plateau connecting Sarajevo through Hadžići to the Malo Polje, Veliko Polje and Babin Dol venues. There were numerous structures constructed on Igman at this time, although many stand destroyed or bear the scars of the 1992-1995 conflict. One of the most eye catching structures remains the Ski Jumping platform at Malo Polje.

Trebević

is a mountain in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, located to the southeast of Sarajevo, in the territory of East Sarajevo city, bordering Jahorina mountain. Trebević is 1,627 meters (5,338 ft) tall, making it the second shortest of the Sarajevo mountains.

During the Middle Ages, Trebević was known as Zlatni Do. During the 1984 Winter Olympics Trebević, like the other Sarajevo mountains, was used for a number of Olympic events, such as bobsledding.

Trebević today is not as important of a tourist destination as Igman or Bjelašnica, largely due to the heavy fighting that took place in the early 1990s. There are numerous hotels, mountaineering homes, and other such structures on Trebević and the immediate area.
Trebević has been the main excursion site of Sarajevo citizens due to the favorable geographical position, climate and the beauty of the nature. The biological diversity is among the highest and it is extraordinary to find such a phenomenon near the hearth of the big city.
Trebević can be reached from Sarajevo by Trebević Cable Car, which was re-opened on 6 April 2018.
